Yang Wenli has a very particular approach to leadership. It’s exemplified in this sequence where he embodies the thing that Jocko always calls ‘The Dichotomy of Leadership’. The leader is always in conflict needing to reconcile the demands from above with the realities and attitudes below.

Just a quick review of 2025 as usual heavily inspired by the one that Hans puts out.

I was somewhat excited to watch this anime series. It’s only 12 episodes for its first season so it was over pretty quickly.

Looking back on 2023 I can say that we made lemonade out of an overall pretty shit year.

The long rumored link between Turkish and Japanese is getting some validation. I’m now also looking into learning Japanese (Chinese wasn’t really doing it for me).

Last weekend the Camera Japan movie festival took place at the arthouse cinema Lantaren/Venster in Rotterdam and it was a lot of fun. The venue was packed and there was a great vibe (like always).
