Environmental music experiences

I recently bought the full version of RJDJ and it is a very fun way to create a dynamic soundgarden based on your environment. I also started using last.fm again even though they don’t have an iPhone player available yet in the Netherlands1.

To riff a bit on the the spime concept, I thought it would be nice if you could scrobble location information along with the track and the moment you listened to it. I describe it in more detail on the last.fm board but nobody there thought it was interesting. At least it was a good excuse to use the term psychogeography.

  1. Yet another reason to move to London or the US, the late release date in the low countries of any significant innovation.

  1. What a great idea, especially with more and more phones containing geotracking software or GPSses. It would be wonderfull if my phone/walkman or pda would start playing my walking-to-the-bus morning tracks automatically.

  2. Oh man, that is also a possibility and a nice app to write. Maybe I’ll write it (I hope Toon & Bogdan aren’t reading this).
